Washington Square Park: First Plein-Air Painting of the Summer!

Washington Square Park, 16x20, oil on Canvas, 2015
This was my first plein-air painting for the summer. I had a great time. The weather and light was nice.  This is one of my favorite spots in New York City: Washington Square Park.  I like the arch, it's a nice structure to draw and paint. Looking forward to going back soon.

I started this piece on a gray canvas, then sketched in with Transparent Earth Orange paint. It's a nice color, I discovered it in Patrick Connors portrait class at The New York Academy of Art. Then began adding colors, background to foreground, cool to warm colors.

GRADUATION! New York Academy of Art, Class of 2015

New York Academy of Art, Class of 2015
I graduated from the New York Academy of Art! I now have a Masters of Fine Arts (MFA) in painting.  It's been an awesome two years and a dream come true. The academy has taught me so much, I'm looking forward to applying all that I've learned to new paintings and discovering and learning more.

Most important I'm grateful for all the amazing friends I've made at the Academy, the students, instructors, administration and maintenance crew have become a wonderful family for me.

I can't believe 2 years have gone by.

PS I'm opening a studio in Bushwick, New York. I move in July 1st.
